I was always interested in metal working, the way that people could make such beautiful artwork out of something so familiar. It was not until recently that I started working in this medium, when my mentor Joe Cosentino offered me the opportunity to work with him at Hillshade Studio. There I learned how to use the tools to make my own metal work. I wish to create art that embodies an animal as they are in nature. Hoping to bring in some of that childish wonder that I felt about them.  I have chosen blue herons as my main focus for this show. Not only do I find them beautiful and interesting, they are also strong yet delicate in my eyes. In a way that I feel works beautifully being translated in metal.
